HD video at 500fps

Working again with two dancers from Cedar Lake Dance Troupe, their choregrapher Benoit-Swan Pouffer and I worked out this short piece to be timed with the camera rolling at 500fps. This is a rough edit (done by yours truly instead of a real editor). I learned that it’s possible to create an actual dance piece at this frame rate while 1000fps and above is best for individual moves.

The heavy back-lighting here is for dramatic effect and to “provoke” the digital footage to see what kinds of artifacts occur in the extreme. Watching in true HD, it’s very smooth with surprisingly few problems.

I’m hoping to find a new project with dance to take this work further.
